I've always like the idea of state flags. Like in whichever state the animal was harvested, repurpose that state flag for the backing! I've even seen a US flag on a whitetail deer pedestal.

They have some very cool texture sprays at the hobby stores , I’ve always liked the marbling look , very easy but cool or have a hero pic of the hunter enlarged and put it on then use evirotect lite to gloss

I’ve been doing a rock look with Matuska rock mechay and painting with thinned water based paint and a sea sponge. Kinda fun and quick. Before I put the mechay down I chip away chunks of foam. This is the only pict I got of one. Nothing new to most, just thought I would share. 4080BFCE-F554-4C79-B492-AE4BA70E1626.jpeg

Yes I've seen that also very creative, the gadsden flag would be neat.

Nice mount! I've seen several pedestals with hoof tracks embedded into the back of the pedestal. Leather with woven leather braid around the parameter look really nice. One of the fanciest backs I have ever seen had a sculptured photo of the father/son next to the bull elk after they harvested it together.

I’ve started film dipping the backs of them. Put a good coat of paint down first.

I did that once on one of my own mounts that was displayed in my studio. In 15 years, only one client ever wanted that one duplicated. Very few of my clients want to spend any more than they have to.

These are mostly the rock mix from McKenzie and paint. Parts are also just plain old sculpted bondo and paint. The hooves were cast from actual tracks in mud. It’s fun adding a little sexiness to an already cool thing.

BO-N-ARO Hunt hard but hunt safe!

Brush on fiberglass resin and sprinkle sand on it. When the resin kicks brush off what didn’t stick.
