Update (and Question) About The Boar’s Skull

    879A44AB-C75F-4D02-8F28-708DBE58C432.jpeg hey guys, thanks for your advice to macerate my boar’s skull, it’s looking good and ‘ve been able to degrease for about a week now (shown below). My question is, how do you know when something is de-greased enough to go on to peroxide? What else does this fella look like he needs first? Thank you!

    Lot more time in the degreasing tank. It will most likely take months plural!

    LOL, yes, degrease for a few months. Pigs are nasty. Take a coat hanger or other wire with a small hook on the end and run it into the hollows of the lower jaw. You will find a lot of crap in there that needs to be fished out. Make sure your solution is 115 degrees. Adding ammonia will help with this one.

    The long bones you have, take a long drill and drill through them. If you are trying to keep them there is a lot of marrow trapped inside of those that needs to get out. You also might consider standing them on end in a pot that you can cover them with detergent water (after drilling) and slowly heat them to not even a simmer. Just HOT water and see if you can melt any of it in there out.
