Pressure Washing

    What is the minimum psi to buy for pressure flashing a Turkey skin? Thank you

    You use a pressure washer to flesh the turkey instead of a fleshing wheel

    I watched a video on Youtube on pressure washing/fleshing a turkey and it got it super clean. The finished product appeared to be better than if it had been done on the wire wheel.

    Taxidermy Training Unlimited has it. The one I have is not on turkey fleshing though. It's on bobcat fleshing. I don't remember seeing one from him on turkey fleshing.

    I found only one video when I did a youtube search on pressure washing turkeys. The guy rigged his own special power washing set up with some sort of turbo tip that fans out the spray rather than a tight spraying nozzle with high pressure. He also added a ball valve lever to change pressure.

    I'm curious if anyone uses a regular power washer tip and exactly which tips work the best? It may be trial and error? The video mentions to always go with the grain of the feathers. I can see how a power washer could potentially cause problems with narrow nozzles at high pressure.

    Use the yellow tip, and on gasoline washers, idle the engine down to the point you can spray your hand and it doesn't hurt. I once pressure washed turkeys, and even did a pressure washing seminar at an NTA convention years ago. I reverted back to the wheel, and continue to wheel rather than pressure wash turkeys.

    Either way .... Defating a Turkey .. it's a messy job:eek: ...... Hadn't had to mount a Turkey in over 10 yrs , I've got 4 this yr , finally got them wheeled and washed ... Forgot what a PITA mounting a Turkey is ... I started to blow dry them and decided heck with it .... I'm tossing them in the dryer:p ..... On med for 45 min and man .. Came out perfect feathers fluffed and skin was just fine .... I removed the wings first and set them aside they'll get beat up too bad in the dryer ....
