Liquid Peroxide - Lg Gator Head 13.5" X 29"

Discussion in 'Skulls and Skeletons' started by jimmy s., Apr 8, 2020.

  1. OK,
I am encountering something I have not in the past. I need a positive displacement method or material to use this with 27% peroxide that wont eat through the material. What can I use to submerge a huge head in without using large quantities of peroxide? Are there bags that I can put the head and peroxide in that wont break down? I can usually submerge into a 5 gal bucket but these heads are so big the base will not go into them. Any help will be greatly appreciated as always.

13 1/2 across? Will they fit individually in a plastic tote of some dimension? Like the plastic boxes they have in Walmart? Laying flat, you would only have to just cover the bone and you could use one tote and a limited amount of peroxide to do all of them if you did one at a time. You could use the same peroxide for all of them. Possibly, your other option *might* be to use a plastic trash can that would be bigger than a 5 gal bucket. Maybe a 15 gallon size? If you could get a fair sized sheet of rubber/pool liner (and make sure there are no holes in it) you could maybe poke it down in to the container and secure it at the top with a tightly wound bungee cord. Place the skull vertically in the liner and fill with peroxide. At the same time, fill the barrel itself with water on the other side of the liner. That will keep the liner pushed against the skull and prevent it from ballooning out (and holding more peroxide)like if you had nothing but air behind it.

29 inches long?? Sell me one so I can try. :)

That isn't Derrick Snelson's gator your working on is it?

  3. As always thank you so much sea wolf! I think the tote may be the option I go to. We killed 2 giants this year. One was 13-6 one was 12-8. They both had huge heads on them! Thank you again so much

  4. That gator you posted was killed with a facebook friend of mine named Darrel Brown. It was 14-2", and is now the new GA state record. He and I chit chat back and forth a little during gator season. He's probably the best in the state as far as killing true giant gators.

Really would like to see progress pictures on those. Those are some really nice ones. Biggest one I have is a hair over 24 inches but those are fairly common.

  6. If we get an extra big one this year maybe I can get you one. We typically only kill them 11+

Whatever you put them in take the peroxide bottles and fill them with water , even regular water bottles now put them down in your tub with the skulls it will disperse the fluid level raising the depth of your peroxide, more bang for your buck . Make sure you take labels off bottles and there is no ink that will come of bottle while in peroxide.

  8. Thats genius thank you for that idea. I will surely use this.
