Warren's Fish Blanks

Discussion in 'Fish Taxidermy' started by HortonWildman, Jul 10, 2020.

  1. Just caught a 40" Grass Carp on my grandson's Zebco panfish outfit with 4/6 pound line.

Obviously this is a special fish to me, and I see that Warren's has one in this size -- but they have no photos on their website -- so how do you know how they look, have clear fins, etc.

Anyone have experience with their forms and can comment?

    THANKS!

    Horton

Lake Country makes very nice blanks. You usually get what you pay for and Lake Country are relatively expensive. I would likely give Warren's a call to find out if they have any photos of the particular blank you are interested in. Hopefully the pose and everything is what you want. I usually modify just about every blank I use. Some blanks that are unfinished can be a lot more work than others. There are a number of places that have quality blanks...I would shop around and find the one that is closest to your particular fish.

Buying replicas is usually trial and error, I've bought expensive replicas that were not that great including lake country, you could call warrens he might be able to send you a picture

warrens is owned by Dan Rinehart supply. Rich Benedict at Angling Artisans also has a big one. There is a picture on his website. I have one on order from him but haven't seen it yet.

Lake country are typically expensive for the lack of quality and quality control that you get.

Careful. IMO Rinehart's fish crew have mucked up an otherwise great line of blanks in the Warren's blanks. If Jimmy Warren knew the quality Rinehart is putting out with HIS name on the blanks he'd be rolling over in his grave. I cannot speak for any other part(s) of their company as I don't do business with them. But, their fish blank quality is in the toilet. Their finisher(s) have no clue what they're doing. They're expensive and their customer service is non-existent. There's a thread or two touching upon some folks' bad experiences, including several of my own since Rinehart took over. You might want to do a search before you give them your CC number. I gave them numerous chances and thought it was just growing pains. They screwed up more than half the blanks I had ordered, a couple were ok though. But, their attitude and hard stance, even when it's THEIR screw-ups is ridiculous. Last blank I got from them was a really poorly done walleye with three fricking huge holes in the side. And their service dept wasted so much of my time playing games when trying to fix the problem and even wanted ME to pay to ship it back! (Basically saying "go away we really don't care if we get your business or not"). Good luck if you use them. I will never give Rinehart a dime of my business due to them not backing up their products nor caring about their customers for that matter. Again, maybe it's just the fish replica division. Don't know, don't care. IF they're the only vendor that has the size I need, I tell my customer nothing exists in their size and steer them to LCR or any of the other great fish replica supply companies...

PS Warren's is just as expensive as LCR, but without a customer service department and nowhere near the consistent, good quality LCR puts out.

Really? I swore Jimmy Lawrence stated that he sold his molds. I must be thinking of somebody else. My bad. That's great news because I'm down to only 4 or 5 distributors so Rich has some great stuff!

Ha, No, I don't think so. I'm sure Jimmy could care less. Lol. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was Jimmy (he's more in tune with that stuff than most of us) who commented on somebody selling their collection fairly recently. Apparently I misunderstood who it was that sold though so my bad. Whomever's collection it WAS went to a private collector with no intent on selling blanks.
