Looking for large cicadas, specifically 17-year cicadas. Looking for good enough quality to pin. Email alexzeesbones@gmail.com if selling or planning on selling.

I'll see what I can do. They are everywhere when you aren't looking for them!

I sell the 17 year ones when they emerge. Usually on ebay. I'll think to list them here when they arrive again.

How do they differentiate from other species?

I've got a yard full, but I mainly just hear them. I guess I need to keep a look out.

They do. When they emerge, it's insane. Millions of them everywhere. The sound is constant during the day and sounds like hundreds of motors running on idle all at once. The adults come up from the ground, moult into the final winged form and take off. Something that has been underground for 17 years and suddenly has wings doesn't fly very well. They are terrible at navigation and smash and crash into everything. Including you. After a couple of weeks, they are all dead and the eggs for the next generation are all laid in tree branches. They hatch and the larva fall to the ground to start the cycle all over again. There are so many of them that the birds and predators on them get full fast and can't eat any more. The rest survive to breed and die.

They are insane looking too. Jet black with bright red eyes. Bugs from Mars. They are harmless and can't bite or hurt you in any way. They are really fun to play with and they make great bass bait while they are around.
