Hello, I am new to the group and hope I am in the right place. I am wanting to learn to paint fish replicas. I don’t want to do taxidermy just the replica painting. Are their schools or classes available somewhere? Thank you for your help!

Rick Krane and many others have some great DVD’s. You can also take a custom 1 on 1 workshop with Rick.

Do you know if Ricks videos cover the basics such as prepping a blank for painting, how to attach heads and fins if you don’t purchase one ready to paint or attaching to different types of mounts like drift wood, plaques etc?

I second purchasing Rick Krane's videos. You can also purchase them as a stream and watch immediately after purchase instead of waiting on the DVD. Each video does cover setting of the eyes and attachment of paired fins. Very thorough instruction, cant go wrong! anglersartistry.com is his website I believe.

When you purchase it, it will send it to you in an email. Most of them have 4 or so (eye painting, eye setting, fish painting and reference) video sections. Just save that email and you will have unlimited access.

    My suggestion
Antuiqe it the get some good reference photos
    And paint what you see
You will learn fast how to interpret colors laying on a fish
Plus you will have fun doing so
