It was found in the Tall Grass of the sand dunes above the beach in Westport Washington
It had gray brown fur curly and there was another body underneath it I believe it was a mole or something on the order of that the body was about 4 inches long and black and brown that was under it. 6.jpg 1.jpg 2.jpg

Skull is only partial and upside down. The skeletal remains are that of a seal. Could be a young one depending on the length of the spine. Do you have fur seals there?

We have Harbor seals. It would have had to travel up an 8ft steep incline to get where it was.
Do they go through that much effort when they go off to die. and because of the size does that mean it was a baby

You'd be surprised where they get to. Also consider it may have been mostly decomposed on the beach and a coyote, dog or even a human got it up there. If it was a really small pup, a motivated coyote could have dragged a freshly dead or mostly intact one up there to eat in peace. A harbor seal pup is pretty small and doesn't weigh much. If it was starving and dying, a lot less. The seal did not die in that spot. Otherwise the grass would be dead and all flattened down from decomposition. The remains were dragged there from a different location.
