looks like 99.8% pure salt. sure soft extra course. (for water softners )

  2. NO, why do you people try so hard to get out of using the proper salt, That salt is to hard and coarse, and will not soak up the moisture as needed.

Go to Sam's club and buy the Morton's table salt in the 25lb white bags. its so cheap and i buy it by the pallet, there is a 80 bags on a pallet.

  3. Nope. It won't give you the full contact you need for salting green hides nor will it dissolve very well in your pickles and tans.

same store, buy this salt, it is rock salt, but ground fine, I use it all the time, it is clean and white, just plain salt. $3.49 for 50 lbs.

THANK YOU RICH FOR BEING SO RUDE! THIS IS A SIMPLE QUESTION THAT A NEW COMER ASKED. IT WAS NOT A MATTER OF USING THE PROPER SALT OR NOT USING THE PROPER SALT. WHERE I LIVE I AM LIMITED ON THE AMOUNT OF STORES THAT I CAN FIND ITEMS. THUS BEING 16 AND HAVING A SINCERE INTEREST INTO TAXIDERMY. I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD TO ORDER ITEMS OFF OF THE INTERNET LIKE SOME PEOPLE. I AM TRYING TO FIND INPUT TO GET THE BEST AVAILABLE SOURCE OF SALT IN MY AREA. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU FOR BEING A JERK!

??? Where is the "Dead Horse" at Mr.T?

Not trying to be rude but here is a C&P from the old forums. Don't know if they will appear as links or not, If not, go to the old forums (top right hand corner). once on that page type in kinds of salt and go to page two. Rich is not being rude, only being honest and straight to the point. There is a reason why fine grade salt is used. Go ahead and use rock salt if you like and come back here later and get an answer to your next problem. Maybe then you will take the advice given. If you are only starting out, Go to Walmart and buy canning/pickling salt. A couple of jars will do for one project.

  11. James you can go to most any feed and seed/farm supply store and have them, if they don't already have it, get you Mortons Plain White Salt. Usually in 50lb bags at about 5 to 6 bucks a bag.

Hope this helps......oh, and by the way, ya gotta have a thick skin on here sometimes. LOL....just wait till ya encounter the wrong side of George.....:)
