Trapper2016 Thanks for this awesome forum!

If anyone out there may have an extra blue goose or an extra blue ross goose and would be generous enough to gift it to me, I would be very grateful. I have always wanted a nice one to try and mount up and would love the chance. I of course will pay all shipping charges.

Thanks for your time and hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Please put me 3rd in line for one of those blue phase ross. Ha Thanks

Oh silly me, must be the old age sinking in. I just remembered.
Hopefully we get out next spring on a snow goose hunt as planned and shoot our own. : ) I need to put that on my calendar.

Yes Dan, it will be about the middle of March. I plan to contact the outfitter here soon but am still in the preliminary stages of planning. I will talk more with you here soon.

Are Ross geese in the blue phase fairly rare? I didn't mean to be one of those guys asking for one of the rarer birds out there. I don't know anything about them or much about snow or blue geese in general. We don't really get them around here and i have always thought they were a beautiful bird. I know blue geese aren't terribly uncommon in alot of areas but im guessing the ross blues are.

You nailed it. Very rare. Never have had one come thru the shop. I know Brazoboyt has harvested a few

Thanks Wildthings. I will know better in the future. They are beautiful birds. I have never seen a blue goose or a ross goose in person and probably wouldn't have known the difference if i saw the 2 side by side, and took for granted just how rare of a bird i was asking for. Really enjoyed seeing those pics. Thanks again.

A True Blue Phase Ross is one of the rarest waterfowl there is .. That said my buddy killed one of the first ever Blue Ross geese in Ca confirmed by genetics .. Stephan mounted it and it traveled the country for a few yrs ... There are some hybrids out there but a True Blue Ross is one in a million ...
