What stitch do you guys use when sewing up a long incision on a whitetail? I don’t like long incision but every replacement hide o buy is long incision.

Baseball stitch for me because you can pull it tight every so many inches and it will mostly hold.

I lay cape on table , hair to hair , seam edge to edge and do a running lock stitch , making cape a short incision kinda thing. Then mount as short incision, sewing up what’s left with a baseball stitch . You don’t see that stitch, even on shorter capes .

When I do a long incision, I do as 13 point. It's much easier to stitch from the leather side than stitching with the hair out, like you would on the form.

Sew him up on the table with lock stitch from leather side as far up as you want. When you mount him up use whatever stitch u normally use. I do all my WT burr to burr but get plenty of western game cut all the way back. It doesn't take long on the table. Stretch the neck out when your done.
