Building A 4 Head Taxidermy Stand

The only drawback is your now doing 4 times the work!

 

I have two mounting stands as you can only mount so many at a time , now when it comes to finish work that’s a different story. I’m going to make a spoke wheel kinda thing that will fit in my one mounting stand where I just slide the wheel into the the stand pipe, it will have 8 flat screw plates on outside of wheel , this way I can screw 8 heads on it sit in one place and spin it , bringing each head to me and my materials. So if I mix flesh apoxy or paint I will do that same thing to each head spinning them till that’s all done to each , then do brown to each head kinda thing and lastly clean the eyes and take that head off putting one in its place if needed . So I’m basically sitting in one spot finishing 8 to 16 heads .

 

I wish I had the room to make something like that. I finish 2 at a time, and it takes all day to do 8-10 mounts.

How did you train that gator to smile for the camera?

 

I have 5 single stands, the only thing that I would question for me is when I pull my hide on I stand behind the form with a stout ruffer and adjust, and when I sew I stand to the rear or side of the form, if there were 3 heads extra coming off of each side and back it seems like they would be in the way of me mounting the way I do, but I like the idea just would not work for me, JMO.

 

I like your idea 13 pt of the finish work, I do all my own building of racks so I may see what I can fab up, if you build one post a pic for ideas, thanks

 

Here is my rough drawing, I had one years ago , and sold it . Use whatever size pipe you think appropriate, I think 1” sprinkler pipe would be perfect

 

everything is always in the way, have one and it's not being used

 

I saw one ware a guy took a 4x4 and bult a bace for it with casters. he could put 4 deer on it and spin it around as he worked. you could even do a 6x6.

 

For finishing it would be good but I cant imagine dealing with that for mounting.

 

Agreed. I need to move all around the mounting stand as I'm working on a shoulder mount.

 

it was for finishing work. he would put 4 on it & paint them. put them on the wall and do again. my shop ant big enough to do that.
