Green Spots On Antlers

    Hello all. I have just just finished a degreasing batch and I have noticed some of the antlers have green spots on them. I have never had this in the 6 years I have been doing this. This green will not come off. Any tips on how to remove it? The water is covered in sous balls so its not like they are in a close case. Any help would be greatly appretriated.

    Photos? Does it look like mold or algae? Anything that might have changed? Especially in the water, touching the water .. like copper?

    Its hard to explain if its algae or mould. But i have never had this issue. No copper at all. just a plastic tub. and sous balls covering the water. Not sure if the pictures show it good.

    I had some similar to that and soaked in heated ammonia for a few days, scrubbed it good with some degreaser and it helped. Good luck

    Thank you. we soaked the antlers back in the water for 2 days and most came off.

    Have to admit that is a very distinct green. Not algae or mold .. nor copper (wrong color). Was the detergent used colored at all? Good thing it did come off though.

    Yeah it was very weird. Never seen that before. And I use just blue dawn soap and ammonia and never in the years had that before. I am glad it came off though

    I have this all the time. That's why I went to a bigger tank so I can submerge the antlers. also I had to bleach the stains out with basic white and re stain the areas because the green went deep. I couldn't even steel wool or sand them out. Now im getting orange crust on my tank and turning water orange. Im going to quit euros soon too much trouble

    Have you always used those green tags? Looks to me like color leached out of them and collected around water line.

    I have used the green tags for the past 2 season. that didn't even dawn on me. I will look into that. Thank you

    it's not the tag's. By the looks of it, it's just above the water line. I bet you have them covered to keep from evaporating.

    Yes I use sous la vide balls to keep the evaporation down.
