    Absolutely a pain when mounting. We CAMO a lot of skulls. Those points distort the pattern and make it difficult. I have cut them off, CAMO'ed the skull, then glued them back on! I would not do that on a trophy deer being mounted.

    Nope not at all , 7 1/8 E/N , no Roman nose , but does have the stubby leg syndrome. It had nuts but they were small and very hard . It was in velvet all the way up till a week before it was killed .

    I am in NC and have seen plenty even a albino this year. There has got to be a reason why there are so many piebald this year.
    I KNOW.... WE WILL BLAME IT ON COVID!!!!
    If I never kill one, I wish to at least mount one.

    Glen, almost all of the many pie bald's I have done over the years have had a very noticeable over bite, and is a fact that inter breeding contributes to this color variation.

    No problem S&T! The unique features found in pie ball deer are common in most specimens that display certain traits. As Glen stated, short or stubby legs are one of them. Most display an obvious overbite and to some degree a Roman nose as well. The exterior sex organs tend to differ as well as Glen stated. Biologically, the difference from a pie ball and typical White Tail comes from interbreeding within a certain area. Those traits are often carried by a herd that occupies an area within their range. I have had the opportunity to work on quite a few in 45 years doing taxidermy on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Other than altering and duplicating to match the unique differences from a typical WT, the mounting is no different between the two.

    No not necessarily, I’ve mounted some huge normal bucks with bad overbites
