Thx 4 Help. Skin Pulling Away From Hendrick’s Easy-set Face.

    I’ve got a problem with my L/S red fox. I mounted it on Thursday with latex caulk as the hide paste. The skin around the eyes is pulling away from the eyes. The easy set face must have moved away from the head. It’s getting pretty solid at this point so I can’t move it.how can I best hide this mistake? Maybe some filler and an airbrush?

    If you can rehydrate and use some 5 min. Epoxy under the year duct with a pin driving into place to hold. This will allow you time to position. I used a hendricks face on a coyote and I used super glue to hold it into place and seemed to work good. I used the epoxy to hold the face to the foam.

    I glue the mask down even tho he says not to , and I also scuff the mask and head all over as I do the form. Then I use pro one to mount . Never had any issues, rehydrate and redo .

    I also scuffed the face and used Pro 1 paste and no problems. I have never liked latex caulk for hide paste on mammals, so, after a few attempts with it, I switched to hide paste. Beyond that, I have no experience with caulk other than the birds I do.

    Scuff the mask and pin the eye corners. You can blend with epoxy to fix if the caulk won't let you rehydrate the eyelids enough to reshape. Those masks are known to shift while mounting till the glue or caulk sets.

    I never cared for the easy set face mask, nothing wrong with the foam face, why complicate it? Just saying.......if it aint broke....

    Use apoxie when finishing to fill in the voids. Re-hydrating a fox could be asking for trouble, IMO.

    I have used the easy face a couple times. I do light sanding on the face to rough it up a bit so the hide paste has something to grip into besides slick plastic. Works for me!

    Like almost all my work, this was just for me. I used some black clay to fill the voids. Next time I’ll use proper hide paste and glue the face down. I might even try the standard head. Thanks everyone.
