Macerating Paddlefish

    I recently caught a paddlefish and am trying to find out if there's any alternatives to beetles for producing a euro of the rostrum? I've been using maceration for all my deer/elk/antelope euros and was wondering if anyone has had luck using maceration for a paddlefish euro?

    As far as I have been able to find out, if you macerate it, it will disintegrate.

    Thanks Sea Wolf. I’ve been combing the internet and haven’t found much, which I took to mean that it’s probably a bad idea. I know beetles are an option but I’d rather do it myself. I wonder if burying in an anthill would work? I’ve heard they’re really delicate so maybe that’s not a good option either

    I would not bury it. They really are delicate and I would not trust one to ants. I've been looking for a big one for a while to try my hand at cleaning one for myself. Have yet to have anyone come through though. You might want to stash it in the freezer until you can get a collection of beetles up and running.
