  1. what does everyone feed there bugs when they don't have any thing to do I been using can dog food is there any thing better for them

  2. trapped squirrels or hot dogs

  3. the hole squirrels do you skin it

  4. Any kind of meat will work. You do need to skin and gut squirells. I try to use old freezerburned meat and I also save meat that is cut off of skulls and trapped animals.

  5. Hi X-SC
road kill is great-- BUT I watch hot dog prices this time of year and buy pkgs of 8 for $.99 when the are on sale-- I took 2 out of the freezer this AM when I went to the gym-- 2hrs later they were thawed-- I cut them into 4 pieces (the long way) and the critters were doing hand-springs when I put the fresh hotdogs in their box--
I try to stay away from dog food as it seems to be present when folks complain about mites---

Weasels hot dog idea works great. Slice as above and I let them dry a bit so the surface isn't wet. Happy happy bugs.

  9. ya I skin mine....theres a video on skinning a squirrel in a way where it takes like 10seconds total (literally) I cut the squirrel heads off till i get a big ziplock full then i let the beetles clean all the skulls and they can be sold or given away.

hot-dogs area easiest you can do really and it can be had CHEAP. old lunch meat works same as hot dogs.

  10. I save the bottom jaws and all the trimmings from the deer I do during the winter months to feed during the summer. I then use the jaw bones to experiment with different degreasers.

What I have been doing lately is going to the local pond and catching half a dozen blue gills, gut them and freeze each wrapped in wax paper. Then when I need to feed I just toss one in.

  13. Hey Dog
Thanks for the tip--- bluegills are easy to catch and the bugs get a special treat ha, ha

I do the same thing. I do a lot of fishing, so after I fillet the fish I save the body. When I don't have anything to give the bugs I just give them the fish. Sometimes I will pick up fresh looking road kill. That stays in the freezer for at least a week before I put it into the tank. I don't need an infestation within my infestation ;)
