VIDEO OF MONSTER NESTS

    I got a video of my "wasp nest museum"! It lasts approximately 10 minutes because I am narrating as I am shooting the video. Please remember to turn up the sound so you can hear me speak. Here ya go:

    Actually, hornets ARE a type of wasp.

    WOAH... Because I have a phobia of wasps/yellowjackets/hornets, that video was like something from my nightmares!!! :eek:
    Quite an interesting collection though! It's neat to see all the different types of nests & to be able to see them cross sectioned!

    Dude you are freaken nuts.LOL I am alergic to those stinging bastages so I really do not like them afraid they still have some life in them.

    Let's just say that it would wake me up really quick! LOL!!!

    Thankfully all of the nests are abandoned during the late fall/early winter before they are collected.

    Wasp/hornets/yellowjackets are our friends because they are important predators on pests such as flies, caterpillars, etc... If it wasn't for them, then our crops would be destroyed by caterpillars and this world would be overrun with flies (not to mention the large numbers of other pests which these flying predators prey upon).

    Yeah, I know that I am nuts. LOL!!! We all need to be a little crazy to survive in this life!

    I get most of my nests on the Internet. People from around the USA send them to me. There are even a few of my nests which have come from other countries such as Canada and China.

    I am sorry to hear that you are allergic.

    Actually, it is safe to collect nests during the late fall/early winter after a couple of hard freezes. This is when the insects abandon their nests and die.

    Wow! you have quite the collection. It was cool to see all the different types from around the world. I just have to say that I was waiting for one to fly out! lol.

    Most of the time when I find them they are weather beaten. I've been trying to get one for awhile to put up in my den to do a mount one day.
