I had a deer eye crack sometime through the drying period. The eye was fine when mounted and for a few days after but at some point cracked.Just wondered if that ever happened to anyone else? :'(

  2. Frank, what medium did you use to set the eye in the manikin? You can almost count on epoxy to crack the glass eye at some time or another. Most of the guys here use critter clay. We need more information.

    Bad luck Frank...
I HAVE had it happen to me three times in 35 years
After thousands of mounts I chalked it up to a weakness in glass itself, it's gotta happen
    It's extremely rare I think.

put silicone in the back of the eye first let it dry over night then set in clay and this will never happen again , I've had the paint from the eye pull from the eye ( tohickon eyes ) and only set in clay.

  11. I had one crack the other day when my youngest decided he would try to hammer it in a little deeper. He said he was just trying to help. :D
