If you try for a slime finish wouldnt you have to tint the clear/gloss coat so you dont get the plastic look?
Isnt fish slime an off white colour...
You could also try the candy/ or bleeder type paints but be super carefull with them.
practice on something first but they are good when you get...

i also use a 2pack automotive clear. just because im a spray painter by trade.
and i tend to be heavy on my clear as well.
