can a saltwater sheephead be mounted?

  1. I friend of my dads gave me a sheephead that he caught in the ocean. I did some searching and couldn't find much, so is it possibleto do a good mount?

    It is possible..I am working on a skin mount of a saltwater sheepshead now. I would cast the head on larger fish.Be prepared to carve your own body. Scales are somewhat loose , so use care when skinning and fleshing.

    George The older I get, the better I was.

    MOST saltwater species contain too many oils to mount conventionally IN MY OPINION. I would think that a reproduction is the safest way to go except for the most experienced taxidermist.
  4. well im not the most experienced, but im gonna give her a try anyway. Its only 14 inches so its not too big. I think I might order an oversized bluegill form and shape it from there. What is the best degreaser?
