Is there any different in tanning hare skin than other mammals? I assume it's more delicate skin, but do I need to do something differently than usual when tanning or is the prosedure of tanning normal (salting, picling , tanning..etc)? Thanks for help, my first hare!

  2. It's the same... May want to stay away from the fleshing machine though.

    Good luck!

Ok,thanks! What is your favorit tanning solvent for hare, any special? I've tanned with lutan f before.

Ummm. Rabbits are thin skined. Just about any tanning agent will work well... I would stay away from the "hard metals" like chrome. Lutan F(N) will work fine.

If you are looking for options, check out EZ-Tan, BASYNTAN DLE or just about any of the "brush on tans" should work fine. The tannery I work for is getting ready to do some testing on Whitetail Designer Systems as a dry tan. As a wet tan, it's the best! We will see how the dry tans look.
