BORAX AND SALT

    DUKE IT'S MY DEER!!!

    can borax and salt be used in conjunction on the first salting and still be tanned.I was told that borax acts as a dry presevitive.

    Yes it can... Trouble is, it will make strange things happin during the first stages of tanning. Ya know... Stuff like hair falling out, gasses that can irritate your lungs and skin... Ya know... Stuff like that.

    whould it be wise to wash the cape before any of the tanning process be started?

    yes, Duke. wash the borax out before starting the tanning process...

  5. Better yet leave Borax for the birds...Tan with something like Krowatann so there is little to no salting and no pickling involved...you should come out perfect everytime with Krowtann.
