Thanks to all for the compliments. They are very appreciated.

John, it is an arp replica. The largest one I could find. 33 inches I believe.

Chad- outstanding brown! In fact everything this week so far looks pretty top notch.

I have a few photos to share this week, of a recently completed project. As some of you know, my day job is as the Education Specialist for Togiak NWR (4.7 million acres of pristine beauty in SW Alaska, including 2.3 million acres of designated Wilderness Area). I’ve been slooowwly trying to renovate our lobby, which is small and until recently was largely a few bones and feathers in glass display cases.

One project related to our lobby that I planned was the construction of a scaled down salmon life cycle, using sockeye salmon as an example. This was a project I started a year ago but shortly after starting it, I got sidetracked with other job related tasks. Well, I finally got a chance to come back to it the last couple of weeks and finished it this weekend. I’ve never done anything like this before- it was a hoot to do.

It was constructed to fit an existing glass case (3’ x 5’). The river bottom is largely Art rocks. Vegetation was purchased from Al Holmes Supply Co. The smolt were purchased from Research Mannikins. The fry I molded myself. A few of the alevin were bought from Fisherman’s Tale; others I created myself with apoxy sculpt.

Any of you who visit this Forum with any regularity know how great Josh Knuth and Dave of Fisherman’s Tale are to work with, as well as the exceptional quality of the products they offer. I’d like to thank them heartily for the blanks used for the larger fish. Josh created the three ocean phase adult sockeyes, as well as the spawning male that’s in the middle of the photo. Dave created the other two spawners, as well as the predatory fish: a pike, a rainbow and a rainbow painted up to be an arctic char.

I hope Thanksgiving was a wonderful and rewarding time for everyone. To one and all, have a terrific week.

The photos aren't the greatest... there's a lot of glare. But you'll get the idea.

Ya'lls work is inspiring........... It makes me very humble to realize that my work has lots of room for improvement.

Here's a skin mounted speck that will hang on a stringer for a wall mount. I couldn't resist taking a pic of it lying on the cleaning table.

Here's a northern skin mount I just finished for a friend of mine. Only a 30'' one but it didn't survive after being caught so he brought it back for me to practice on. I haven't done a pike yet so it was good to have one to practice on. His brother brought me a bigger one to do next. Both had some dark coloring and the spots had a bright greenish color to them. The picture doesn't show the colors too well. Great fish this week everyone.
