HI everyone, I just found the site here and it looks nice. I would like to ask for help painting the fins on a reproduction rainbow trout. Yes I know they vary in color but can someone give me an idea of what to use for a base coat and what to to use next? Thanks Kerry

    Re: Ranibow trout?

The rainbows from local lakes have orangish pelvic fins which I get by mixing a little red in some yellow until I get the color I want. They also have some black near the bases painted lightly. I make the caudal and dorsal fin a dark green by first using yellow and then shading that with black to tone it down. Paint the spots using black with an airbrush.

Some have a "salmon pinkish" tint whick you can do by misting with yellow ochre then very thin, transparent red.
