leather oil

    when oilimg a tanned hide for a soft tan can you use just a good leather oil to soften it up

    Yes but you would still need to break/tumble it to archive the "soft" results.

    "leather oil"? Are you referrig to Mink Oil or Neatsfoot Oil in the pure state? Or a sulphonated or bisulfited tanning oil blend?

    The pure state stuff is only for surface lubrication - you need a treated tanning oil for penetration and softness!
