Rehydrating African Capes

    OK...I have always soaked up my dry salted deer, caribou elk etc capes in a solution of 2 lbs salt to 1 gallon of water and some ultra soft. Usually it takes 12 to 15 hours before they are softened up and I drop them in the Safety acid pickle. I have some African capes, nothing to major...Kudu..Impala..Wildebeeste and have been wondering if there is a better solution for these. I have looked in the archives and it appears that the use of Rittels acid bate will help quite a bit in the pickle solution but due to the extreme dryness I wonder if there a better soak to use other than salt and water w/ relaxer to relax before putting in the pickle. Thanks for the help.
