I just finished watching J. Knuth tutorial on mold your own fish and was wondering if I could use anything else besides the Cordoba wax to help release the cast. There is an item in WASCO on the same page as the PVA, opposite page of the gel coat and was wondering if I could use this instaed to speed up process a little. Also, would I have to mist that with PVA prior to putting on the gel coat. Thanks so much in advance, you guys are great. Feel free to PM me instead of adding to this thread if its easier. 2. Heya Tony,

The carnuba car wax (mother's brand) has been by far the best to me.
I dont have the WASCO catalog so i cant say for sure.

Any paste wax should do the trick, just avoid any with a large amount of petroleum based solvents as they will eat away at your mold and my react with your resin.

As for the PVA it should be applied after the wax id buffed and dry.

    I should go like this

    PVA
    ------------------------------------
    Wax
    --------------------------------------
    Mold
    -------------------------------------

The PVA will leave a very thin film, that will dissolve when wet.
This helps to prevent any chemical reactions with the wax and resin and will also allow for easy removal and clean up of your casting.

Josh do you thin down your PVA when spraying with an airbrush?
