I am looking at two different gel coats to purchase from an industrial arts supply company. One contains wax and the other not. Which one should I get?

I realize I need to wax and PVA my mold but will the wax in side the gel coat affect the paintablity--is that a word?-- of my cast?

  2. Get the gelcoat without the wax.
Wax is mixed into the gelcoat to allow a smoother finish, but you will have big issues painting and laminating it with resin.
Basically it is a finish coat and not what you want.

No Wax is what you need.

Thanks for the info. That is what I suspected-- issues with the painting

BTW, Jknuth, great stuff on your web site.
