I've got some stands for skulls that you might be interested in. Here's some pictures, just email me with any questions. [email protected] No modification of the skull necessary. Fits a wide variety of skulls.[IMG][IMG]

I want to know what‘s your opinion about “illegal collections” in a strange country that is almost impossible to have any legal skulls...... All what we have, even from zoos、found from the field、or bought from somewhere with CITES permission--------they're all illegal to own. It is said that you can apply for a paper for your ownership, but no one knows how and where to work it out. There is no perfect law to manage both buy and sell skulls. Too bad. Is there any other Asia collectors on this site?

If your collection is "Illegal" then you best get permits and find out how. All it takes is for one person to report you. You need to ask your local authority on how to get permits. If they do not know, then ask them to refer you to someone else. Keep doing that until you connect with the right person. You didn't say where you are so that would be all the help that could be offered.

Thanks a lot for your reply. But sad to say, your suggestion doesn't work. When you're trying to ask local authority, they'll tell you:"Why you want a permit? Oh yes I know that is illegal, but just go back home and collect them silently. No one will trouble you if you don't sell them." Just like this. And I'm in China......

after seeing some of these collections, I have to admit that mine doesn't seem that impressive anymore, haha!

this is my bookshelf, rapidly losing books and gaining skulls instead.

there's a dried house gecko in one of the vials and the others are spare alligator gar scales/bones. I'm thinking it might "flow" better if I put the books all on the left side, though.

disorganised right now. I've got a gafftop catfish skull to clean up and add, and soon I'll be getting a raw fox skull, hopefully, and a chameleon skeleton to rearticulate. they'll go on this shelf so for now I haven't bothered to put things into any "final" positions- they're going to be rearranged soon anyway. the fur in the back is a bobcat, and the jar contains rabbit feet and misc. drum bones.

an alligator gar skull I'm still working on rearticulating-- I was using a poor reference and put the scales near the eye on the wrong side. I haven't gotten around to working on it. this skull was sitting in the back of a truck in San Antonio for ~5-6 years, at least, but it's too cool for me to want to just give up on it yet. I was going to clean it after articulation with hydrogen peroxide & baking soda paste since it's also very greasy but it's too delicate to fuss much with until it has more structural integrity.

8 point buck, experimenting with fixing the nasty negative space on his shield. I'm probably going to move him to a different shield/plaque, a less traditional one, and try to make something of it. I think he's a 70's model, not sure. picked him up at a local "junk museum."

a couple of the (5) whitetailed deer I'm cleaning up right now. the top one I have a full skeleton and plan on articulating. bottom one was busted to pieces but I've since cleaned it up well enough and glued it.

Guess my house qualifies as a "collection". After all there are glass windows on all sides for viewing, though coming inside and walking around (and exploring what is in the cellar and come to think of it .. out in the yard) would provide a better viewing experience. Some of us, just do not have a "collection" that fits in a glass case. One whale skull takes up half a double doored closet here.
