PRESERVING FISH

    What is the best way to preseve fish skins to be mounted? Please give ingrediants and mixing ratios. Never mounted a fish and all help would be appreciated

    50/50 denatured alcohol and water. Wash the skin with dawn dish soap before mounting. It will help relax the skin. You can leave the skin in the denatured alcohol and water for extended periods of time. If you use borax, the skin should only be in for 24hrs or less because it can get under the scales and cause them to lift when the skin dries.
