Black Phase Red Fox

    It's the same species as the Red Fox though isn't it? That's what I was told. Same species, just different color phase...?

    Yes. Silver foxes are Vulpes vulpes, same as the red fox. The arctic fox is a different species Alopex lagopus, though it is possible to use them to create interspecies hybrids. The hybrids have the long legs of the silver fox and the blubber of the arctic fox. The nap of the fur is short and dense, and they don't have the mane of the silver. I have some pix of the hybrids, but I"m not sure if it's Kosher to post them, even though they're just for personal study and not being sold as photos. Anybody know anything about this?
