Hey everyone, Has anyone done an antler mount with the fur on the skull plate? My sister wants me to mount her 9 point. I have never done one before, and she wants the fur on the mount. Pictures would help too. Thanks, Katie

Katie, you have to skin the head out just like you were shoulder mounting it. Then the skull cap is ground down to just a palm size piece of bone as the eyelids and ears will come into play if you make it any bigger. Either tan or DP the hide, sew it back on the antlers. I usually cut a small disk of plywood and screw it inside the skull cap. Sew the hide under the skull like a drum and then attach it to a plaque from underneath with the screw going into that piece of plywood.
