    aussiesam I'm an Australian.

I have a friend who has bought a tmedium sized turtle shell at a garage sale.

She would like to know how to rsafely emove paint that was applied to the shell at some stage?
It looks like a common colour fence paint so I am assuming its water based.

Sand? Stripper? I didnt know so thought i'd put it to you guys.

Soaking in acetone should work without hurting the skull

I though acetone might discolour the shell but will let her know.
    Thankyou.

Sorry, I meant to put shell, not skull. Acetone should work and wont discolour it. I degrease Tortoise shells in acetone when I do their skeletons and it dosent discolour at all.
