Anyone ever try and do a european mount with a duck head?
I have a few cleaned duck skull. they are pretty cool, well at least I think so.
Did you boil them or use beetles? If you boiled em did you just use water? Wanted to try it myself...
Travis, you got fire ants??
No, no ants no beetles. Can I boil them on my own and have them come out ok? what do I boil em in?
You don't want to boil any skull. just a slow simmer with baking soda. and the meat should come off, but you will still need to degrease the skull, a lot of fat in waterfowl.
Cool! Thanks how long do I boil it for and can i do it in the house or will the wife kill me !!!! Does it stink in my question?
fresh heads shouldn't smell, but do it while wife is away . try to remove as much meat as you can, eyes, and scramble the brains with a piece of wire through the spinal opening.
just to let you know the actual bill will come off, It is tissue also.
cool! I figured the bill would come off just leave the bone. Thanks Hoss! I will clean it, scramble the brains and try boiling it! I will let you know how it comes out.
simmer, not boil.
do you have any pictures of that hoss? i have been wanting to try it, i thought it would be cool to have one of each species. just wondering what they look like
I can get you a Picture later, but this thread has a bunch of skulls on it.
