I am working on getting a score around for this beast of a whitetail. It is a wild kill here in Michigan. I had a customer come over and I took a few pics of it. he is considering selling it. The mass is unreal, and the kickers, long brows and splits gives this thing some serious character. I am sure it is going to be over 200"'s if not damn close. Let me know what you guys think! It appears to be mounted around 10 years ago is my guess, the mount itself needs a little TLC.

    Thanks

    Ryan

    Sweet Buck!

  4. Good lookin deer..you are probably right..close to 200" gross SCI or ?..in todays market he is probably going to be worth $800-$1000..a few years back he would have been 3 times that...all you are really buying is the antler..the mount doesnt add anytghing to the value on this one..good luck

Not sure of the value, should be well over a grand. Is he gonna have it officially scored? That can help boost the value if you have the score sheet. I have an idea for a fun game though...... Guess the score..... I am going on record with 221 3/8. definately a toad! Would like to know what the final tally is.

Dang it! Well, I was within 5 inches anyhow.

  14. Does this guy know the history on this whitetail? Commemorative bucks of Michigan lists a similar buck as the state handgun record killed in Iron county in 1945. Can't really tell from the picture of it but there are some similarities. Both scores are close also. They probably aren't the same deer but it would be cool if they were.

they may be.... As of right now, I am trying to get a story, lisence information etc. As far as teh score goes, I know that it is not perfect but it is pretty damn close. If I hear the rest of the story, I will let you guys know.

Do you by any chance have the link Taflinger?

  16. Just type in Commemorative Bucks of Michigan and go to Booners #1 or # 2.

I've done a few articles on the value of trophies and have interviewed several noted whitetail antler collectors in the process. There are several factors that influence the value of antlers: The B&C score is the most important, but the story behind it also can add value. If the trophy is a state or world record, then that of course adds to the value too. The location of the kill also can add value. For instance, a 190 buck killed in Florida would be worth a lot more than a 190 shot in Wisconsin. Of course the condition of the antlers can also impact value too. Here are some rough estimates that will provide a general idea of the ballpark value of a set of antler:

    Typical Racks
    170 $1000
    174 $2000
    179 $3000
    184 $4000
    190 $5000
    195 $10,000
    200 $15,000
    200+ $20,000 +

    Non-Typical Racks
    195 $1,500
    200 $2,000
    205 $3,000
    210 $4,000
    220-$5,000
    230 $10,000
    240-$15,000
    250+ $20,000+

I aso must add that for there to be any decent value to the antlers that you will have to proof to the buyer that the deer was taken legally from the wild.
