Rinsing out Curatan

Discussion in 'Tanning' started by Haffs, Mar 9, 2010.

  1. I tanned a WT cape in January with Curatan. After I rubbed the tan on I left it sit for three hours per instructions. I then froze the cape without rinsing or washing of any sort for use at a later date. I pulled the cape out today and began trying to rinse out the extra Curatan in the hide. After running udenr cold water for 20 mins there was still Curatan coming off of the hide. I don't have the Curatan container any longer but thought that it suggested using mineral spirits or something of the sorts to remove excess tan. Just wanted to check before I acutally did this as using mineral spirits seems like it could cause some problems if used incorrectly. Maybe some sort of shampoo wash would be better?

hand wash it in tide - spin out water in a washing machine should be fine
