Re: One On One Training in Idaho

For anyone wanting to learn from one of the best taxidermist in the country this is your chance. I have had the pleasure to work at Troy's shop on two different occasions. The first time I thought I knew a lot about bird taxidermy. Troy opened up my eyes to many things that I use to this day on every bird that I mount. This was about 7 years ago. This past winter I returned to help Troy get caught up on some work and once agian I came home with another bag of tricks. Just when I thought I had seen it all Troy taught me some more. I would highly reccomend Troy to anyone wanting to learn bird taxidermy or take their bird work to the next level. I will also mention that his beautiful new home is like being in the middle of Elk camp in some of the most prestine country in the Rocky Mountains.

You can't go wrong with this if you are looking to learn from scratch or add some techniques to take your work to the next level. This guy's natural abilities are amazing as is how easy he makes tasks that frustrate me. He has always taken time to answer my questions or even work with me on a piece to help me through a struggle. I have known Troy for many years and he simply amazes me with his abilities and has provided me with many many pointers and techniques during these years that I truly treasure and appreciate.

I went through training for birds, lifesize, and gameheads with Troy and it is the best money I have ever spent. His skills and attention to detail is second to none. Once you go through his course your quality is sure to improve immensely. If you have any questions after your training he will answer them for you if you give him a call. I would recommend his one on one training to anyone whether you are a beginner or you want to take your work to a higher level.

Re: One On One Training in Idaho

Last spring was my first experience working with Troy Rose in his beautiful home and studio in northern Idaho. My husband Thomas was back for the third time to continue his education and perfect his skills on big game trophies. Two years ago Thomas worked on a competition mule deer. Last year I began my training on a doll sheep mount and Thomas on a trophy bull elk. Troy is an awesome person to work with. His knowledge of all the skills of the trade is outstanding. He has a profound knowing of anatomy and excels in mule deer, elk, sheep, and lions. Everything I saw in his studio was remarkably well done. Troy has perfected the art of taxidermy. His work comes to life! He guided us through every step of the process and I left with a vast new understanding of what it takes to really bring out the quality in ones work.

Troy has a beautiful home that sits high on the hills of northern Idaho. Deer, turkeys, elk and even bear can be spotted right from the house. Room and board are included with nice, clean, modern facilities. Town is only a twenty minute drive. Troys friendliness and the studios location are like being on vacation.

Thomas has gained enough knowledge from Troy that he now is able to mount quality mounts at home. We plan on returning again this spring for a three day habitat and finishing course. As outfitters and beginning taxidermist we highly recommend training with Troy. We also recommend Troy Rose's work to many of our clients.

Re: One On One Training in Idaho

Just got back from a few days with troy and completed these bufflehead with habitat and the turkey. Haven't done the legs on the turkey yet as they are still drying. Troy is an outstanding instructor and the accomodations are beyond incredible. I am returning the 12th-27th to mount an antelope pedestal, bugling elk pedestal, blacktail shoulder mount and a lifesize muledeer and lifesize cougar with habitat. So many good things to tell you. PM me if you have questions and I will try to get back with you quickly.

I will do an in-depth review when I get back. I will tell you the training is unbelievable. Troy is the man!!!!!!!

Here are the ducks and turkey.

Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 7/28/2010 After 17 grueling days, Dave, my VA Voc Rehab Student 8) from Lebanon, Oregon emerged with some absolutely fantastic pieces!!! I think when it was all said and done, Dave must have sewn a 1/2 a mile or better between all his critters, and I think we might have killed a few bottles of Pendleton in the process to boot :p. Dave's relentless determination to succeed showed in the outcome of his mounts. Job well done Soilder!!!
