Ambloplites cavifrons is a Roanoke bass
Ambloplites rupestris is a Rock Bass

then there is Shadow bass Ambloplites ariommus
    and Ozark bass Ambloplites constellatus

I changed the name of the header......this fish appears to be the rock bass while the scientific name given was for the roanoke bass (which also is commonly referred to as rock bass just to confuse things). There are some color differences but Roanoke's only exist in two watersheds in Virginia and two in North Carolina....very limited range.
