Resin over envirotex

Discussion in 'Habitat and Exhibit' started by Cripplecreek, Jun 2, 2010.

  1. Has anybody ever poured resin on top of envirotex & does it have any bad results? I'm getting ready to put together a base. It's going to have small pebbles that I want to arrange under the water. I figure if I mix the rocks with envirotex it will give me more time to work with them.

I know any varnish based or urethane base products will flake or peel.

I would just use the envirotex for the whole project. Set your rocks in the first pour, then after that one cures out, make another pour over them. I would make a few pours as you don't want to pour the envirotex real thick in one pour.

  4. Thanks for the replies. I might take Matt's advice & do Envirotex for the whole thing. The reason it made me a little nervous is I poured resin over water based paint last year & got little white bubbles at the bottom. Apparently the resin pulled moisture from the paint even though it was dry.

I prefer envirotex over resin any day.
