carving bodies?

Discussion in 'Lifesize Mammals' started by Justin, Mar 4, 2007.

  1. How many people carve their own small mammal bodies?I do for most of the small mammals I mount. Then I pour the head. I was just wondering how many people do this.

I carve most of my small mammal bodies out of ethafoam(flexible foam) and either carve a head out of balsa wood or sculpt and cast one.

I've been casting mostly, but I carved two rabbit forms... they look pretty good, so I might continue carving more.

Once you master it ,carving is about the best method going because it can done alot quicker than carcass casting . But you`re best to invest the time to cast when you make the head. 8)
