Great thread to keep going! Just back from Peru, fantastic place to hunt let alone for collecting birds. 15 species taken by myself over the hunt.
The main guy:
The Andean Ruddy is an awesome bird too, still hard to believe the size of the giant coot though
Ornate tinamou were plentiful, after get a nice batch of adult birds to take home I just enjoyed watching them run around
First bird of the trip for me, very nice Andean goose male
Peru?? Wow! Isn't that a Torrent duck? Cool trip!
Yea a torrent, seems like he's the main dog people go after. Personally I enjoyed hunting them all but must admit the process to hunt Torrents was a whole different deal. Will have some Torrent hunting video's up on youtube pretty soon ;D
This is late season goose hunting in Oklahoma in about 2 foot of snow. Early Feburary it got as low as -28 degrees not including wind chill in northern Ok. It was actually colder here than Alaska acording to the news. Now its been aroud 105 degrees.
I never realized how small those torrent ducks are until I saw your pics. Eric, post up a pic of that spur they have.
I'm going to NZ again next year (God willing) but I got Peru on my sights for 2013.
Glass eye I really envisioned this larger bird until holding one. It was surprising to see how many species Peru has to offer and that was not going after any of the shore bird types.
Now that is an odd place for a spur.LOL
I thought Torrent ducks are rare and protected?????
Why the angry face ?
