Customer brought this tonight. When pulled out, the piece of antler was 2 1/2 inches long. Can't tell how long it was in there, but it didn't look at all fresh.

Yes, he wants it mounted this way.

I would pry use an epply eye and trim it to fit, just an idea for ya. Would have to see better pic's to really see how to go about it. I think it's safe to say that there pry isn't too many taxi's that have had to THIS one, I'm SURE there are some. Maybe the can help! Will be a neat challenge for sure and look forward to see'n the finished mount! Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great!

looks like they did him a favor
  13. I wonder if he was the winner or the loser of the fight. I know that when ever I had a black eye from a fight when asked what happened I said, "you should see the other guy"

Now what would be really interesting is if the other guy that piece of antler belongs to showed up as well!
  15. Did it go into the brain then?

It did not go into the brain. It slid behind the eye and stayed within the bone of the eye socket. He may have been blinded, as it may have damaged nerves somewhere in there. There is no lasting damage to the outer skin. The bone on the edge of the socket looks a bit damaged, but healed. I really think this is an old injury.

have you a pic of the skinned head?

Yes, although I don't know if Photobucket will keep it on. It pry violates something.
It's a bit blurry, but you can see the hole and the damage to the cartilage at the back of the socket.
