How much will a dry tanned elk cape stretch when re-hydrated?

    I bought dry-tanned elk cape that says it is 11 x 28, and it only measures 16 inches right now. Will it stretch an extra 12 inches once it rehydrated?

    Give it a extra day or two, hydrate it, and you will get some gain, bag and fridge another day and it should grow some more. But never trust a cape salesman, they always fudge on the size. It has been a while since I been to ebay for a cape, so I looked last night and it kills me that over stretched raw skins get big money, a 21" raw will tan out to an 18". LOL
