What are the biggest downsides of using aluminum sulfate as a tanning agent? I have heard poor stretch and not too long of a shelf life. Are there others?
  2. I have found that stretch is not a problem however acid rot will be if the skin is subjected to humid environments.

Soft supple stretchy skins, easily washes out, very very poor shelf life, do not recommend for taxidermy purposes.
  4. ok ive found the downside to be poor stretch and too dry
