Thawing a whitetail deer hide that isn't tanned

    When thawing a deer hide that isn't tanned is it better to leave it in the bag or remove it from the bag to thaw out.

    Remove it from the bag.... You don't want the hide sitting in water from thawing. I put mine on milk crates, so air can get to them.

    x2...good advice. I usually take then out of the bag, and lay them on a dry towel, so it will absorb moisture and blood. You can place a small fan a few feet away from it and the thawing time will be decreased significantly
