I got in this buffalo today and started skinning only to find out that the skull was completely shattered by 4 shots to the head with a 300 mag.

And ... they want it cleaned? How much will the repair bill cost? :)

no repair on this one, it was in many pieces I had to make a skull cap out of it, not salvageable. He said he didn't think it would be that bad, lol

    Yea, that sucks
  8. Haha seen it time and time again. Had a guy bring in an elk two years ago that he wanted a euro done with only 2 shots from a 7 mag but there was no saving it either. Reproduction candidate. Same thing he said I didnt think it would be that bad.

I do processing for a living, for buffalo one shot behind the ear with a 22 mag gets it done. Three with a 300? WOW

These basterds are mean as hell. I live next to a bison ranch and you ain't seen nothing crazier or meaner. They get your blood pumping at round up. Lot of fun though. Babies are a blast to watch. I have put in first bid on the next orphan.

I figured I'm pretty hard pressed to get drawn for buffalo, plus it's pricey. And I don't feel going out with a warden and being told which one I get is much like hunting. So the next one somebody wants done with decent horns I'm gonna have done for the house if they don't want it themselves. Technically, I did shoot it lol.
  14. Just wondering what you would do to patch a hole on a skull?
I have a buffalo that I cleaned and found that the guy shot it
in the forehead with a 12 gauge slug. Skull did clean up nice and
stayed in one piece, but has a big hole in the forehead!

Leave it as it lays.......gives character and tells the story.
