I have just put a Rainbow Trout skin into the zinc sulphate mixture and the skin got all spongy......almost like acid swell on a cape. I pulled it out and washed it off. I have 2 bass heads and a brook trout in there and they are perfectly fine. Why did the Rainbow skin react like this? I did nothing different to it......Any ideas?

    What else............

What else did you put in with the zinc sulphate? I avoid salt.

I agree with Kerby. I quit using salt many years ago after having similar issues, especially w/trout and salmon.
