always interesting to watch somebody else work. thanks mike
Michael, the owner of that mount should be tickled to say the least. Great Job.
I know what you mean michael !! Usually down here in the Houston area we have a little more time but the other evening after mounting a deer I didn't bag the face and couldn't move anything the next afternoon. Had to put a wet dishrag on it and bag it to soften it back up YIKES what's going on this year with the weather!!
This is what I now call the "Texas Dryer Box" LOL
Tonight I followed my friend Kerby Ross' advice (the same one who made the wonderful cactus casts) and instead of wasting time mixing and trying to blend paints for a real good cactus color he told me "just take your live reference (the actual cactus) to Home Depot, have them put it on the paint scanner and match your EXACT color
So off I went........
Had the lady at the paint counter scan the cactus.............
and BAM....an exact match
I'll sand it down, prime, thin the paint for my airbrush and knock it out Wednesday. Well I guess this is it till Wednesday, I got those 4 pheasants to mount until Wednesday afternoon when I start finishing, see ya then
very nice . i never new they matched paint like that, thats an excellent thing to learn, theres no excuse for not getting close now.i never did much in the line of habitat work befor but since your dvd ive sure been busy, started first on a few old w/tails i had, and of course had to turn them into pedestals also, man ive learned alot from you.thanks, mp
Great tutorial MP thanks for sharing
I think that is awesome that you take SO MUCH TIME to educate and help others. Much appreciated by many I am sure - myself included!
So true Thanks Mike
Customer will be happy with that mount. Yeh ut is the same here too if you don't bag it you can't adjust it the next morning
I like Kerby's idea. Sweet buck, its coming together really nice. Thanks for the pics..
Great stuff Mike. This was a great post, it was fun to follow.
Should be dry enough for finish work in a half hour!
Cool post, Mike.
Already did the epoxy this afternoon
Maybe we should do a new show and call it, "Mounted While You Wait"!.........Just kidding!
OMG - Will there be a drive thru?
And a barber, an oil change, a tire shop, maybey a stripper club?
My new name is "Walmart Taxidermy"!!!
