I use Laquar based paint to paint my fish. My daughter would like me to paint her Stetson straw hat. What type of paint should i use on the hat and should I seal it with something from the elements?

Straw is tough, it is hollow and you need to experimet with a sealer to completly penetrate and seal it. Modge podge with many coats may do it.

polycrylic in a can works good, little bit like modge podge except better shine and should be able to go outside with it but not sure how the water holds up to it .

acrylic would stick, i would use some kind of clear acrylic spray (preferably with uv protection) to keep it from wearing
